i did! i made these pants, i'm so excited!
can you tell these are the first item of clothing i've ever made?
and they fit her, and they aren't wonky in the least bit, except the stripes are a tiny bit off on the sides. i sort of forgot to pay attention to that.
i placed a favorite pair of her yoga pants on the fabric,
which was folded over once
right sides together and traced a leg,
then flipped the yoga pants and traced out the other leg same as the first on new fabric.
then i just cut around them, leaving about 1/4" seam everywhere,
except on the cuffs i left over 1" and the waist band even more
for ample room to fold over and sew over elastic ( 1/2").
i read somewhere to remember to stretch out the waist band
on the pants you are tracing so you have enough fabric for your new waist band.
then i sewed up the outside of the legs and the inseam.
sewed the crotch area and then the hem, and lastly the waist band with the elastic.
the package of the elastic has more specific directions if you need them.
i have sewn dolls and bags, and cloaks and capes...
and now i've accomplished this. phew!
she loves pink and brown, and there are flowers and paisleys.
perfect thing to cheer her up on a day she wasn't feeling so well.
oh happy dance!
can you tell it's the goddess?
spiral belly, her arms and then her head?
this bread was delicious...orange zest in it
with a glaze of egg whites, powdered sugar, honey and almond slices
(sorry, these pictures were taken in haste, as most of them are!)
we have been moving into a direction of celebrating the seasons, of celebrating mother earth
i love helping the kids, and us as well, make connections that don't exist in our empty consumerist holidays these days.
this is what feels right to us, and it's so great.
our community has a lot of pagan leanings as well.
there are full moon gatherings, solstice parties, may poles...
we've definitely landed in the right place.

for years i searched for connections to what my ideals jived with.
i have found a wealth of information on the web
and in books like circle round, celebrating the great mother, and
just recently pagan homeschooling.
the goddess bread recipe is from circle round.
only 5 1/2 more weeks until summer solstice!

The pants ROCK! Even better then I imagined after your call. Marley looks super cool and comfortable in them! Now you need to make them in your size!! Love that you took on this challenge!
Awesome pants! I want some, too! And the goddess bread looks wonderful. Have you ever read The Mists of Avalon?
I want some pants, too! Did you see that at JoAnn's they have the already stretchy cloth (just like we used to wear in halter tops in the 70s)! It's even cool patterns and stuff. :)
Anyway, I am hoping to get to talk with you in detail about how you did these pants...I so need some!
